April 2024
Dear customer
There are important changes to the tariffs from 1st May 2024
Electricity Tariff
From 1st May the cost to you will reduce by 22% to 0.19 pence KwH.
OBES has secured a fixed price for the whole of the year so this cost will remain unchanged until 1st April 2025.
Heat Tariff
From 1st May 2024 thanks to a reduction in wholesale prices the variable heat tariff will reduce by 10% to 0.18 pence KwH
Standing Charge
The contract we have secured for the next 12 months includes inflation related increases for maintenance etc. compared to last year.
The standing charge will therefore increase by c.5% depending on the size of your home.
Overall Reduction
Typical bills will reduce by c. 9% overall for the next year as a result of these changes
OBES costs v the wider market
Including equipment maintenance and repairs plus capital costs for replacement the average energy bills are about 24% less than the wider market. This is partly due to the Government subsidy received each year for using biomass for heat.
